I’ve been stalking the PayPerPost forums for a while now and I’ve noticed that many posties have had both problems and questions concerning the affiliate tools offered by PayPerPost and installing in Word Press.

From the installation point of view word press themes can be different so it’s difficult to automagically hook the PPP code into a theme. In March 2007 the PayPerPost servers because very sluggish and brought down many of the posties blogs that had the disclosure code installed. Subsequently the posties removed their code but then lost some opportunities because the disclosure code wasn’t installed. The postie world was in an uproar!

I developed this PayPerPost Tools Plug in to alleviate these problems.

Because of the difference in themes you will need to install four lines of code by editing your theme. The Core code must be installed just above the tag. The other three are your choice. The rest is done through the PayPerPost Tools configuration.

What the plug in does is first check to make the PayPerPost servers are running normally. I have also put a timeout so even if the right disclosure page is found but is being sluggish then PPP tools will not show and not cause errors for your visitors. By default the core (Disclosure) code will always display even if PayPerPost server is Not Normal, however you have the option to only display the code if PayPerPost server is normal.

If PayPerPost server is normal then it will allow the affiliate tools code you’ve installed to display. You can also turn on or off your different tools by checking or unchecking the display box next to the tool. Yes this means after you first install the four lines of code you no longer have to comment out or remove the code from your theme by editing it.
